The Sub League 2 scribes have announced May's Pitcher of the Month and have given the award to Bill Smith of Steinbach. He was one tough cookie on the mound last month with a fine 5-0 mark to prove it.
The Steinbach star made 6 starts with a 1.53 ERA and surrendered 42 hits in 47 innings. He struck out 16 and walked 17.
On his 2008 stats sheet Smith shows a 7-1 record, 12 starts, 87.2 innings, 33 strikeouts and a 2.77 ERA. |
 | Sunday, June 1st, 2008: May's Starter of the Month Goes to Harden
The May Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the Sub League 1 award went to Stockton hurler, Christian Harden.
During the month, Harden was impressive with a 1.53 ERA and 5 wins and 1 loss. In 59 innings he struck out 24 and gave up 50 hits and 14 walks.
Harden has made 19 starts so far this year and put up a 11-4 won-lost record with a 2.90 ERA. In 111.2 innings he has allowed 109 hits, walked 29 and struck out 44. |
| Sunday, June 1st, 2008: Barker Grabs SL2 Best Batter Award for May
May's Batter of the Month Award has been given out by the Sub League 2. This month's trophy was presented to the Steinbach first baseman, Kevin Barker.
He starred by hitting .381 with a .484 on-base percentage, totaled 40 hits in 105 at-bats, 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 24 runs.
Barker is hitting .321 in 2008 with 24 RBIs and 4 home runs. |
