| Breaking News | | Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007: Justin Burgess Hurt, Will Miss Rest of Year
Justin Burgess of the Sidekicks just might have to call it quits for the season. The 19-year-old Bakersfield left fielder received a possible season-ending injury against the Paradise Green Sox recently at Ballpark of Bakersfield. Burgess suffered back spasms while making a defensive play. The Sidekicks medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 7-8 months.
To date Burgess has chalked up a .198 average with no home runs, driven in 11 runs and scored 10 times. |
 | Sunday, May 13th, 2007: Bakersfield Loses Unknown for Season
Bakersfield reliever Joe Unknown could miss the remainder of the season because of a torn back muscle. He exited yesterday's Honolulu game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Unknown would be out 7 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer.
"He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."

It appears to be only a rumor, but earlier today, fans around Bakersfield were buzzing with the news that their 32-year-old right fielder Adrian Brown had been asking for a trade. "I couldn't imagine him saying bad things about Bakersfield or wanting to leave." said one person.
