| Breaking News |  | Friday, May 18th, 2007: Volunteers Pitching Ravaged by Figueroa
It was a sensational day at the plate for Luis Figueroa as he led the charge to a 6-1 win over the Volunteers.
The Steinbach shortstop was pure misery for the Madison pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
The manager for the Volunteers told BNN reporters after the game, "Figueroa put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
L. Figueroa hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This season Figueroa has hit 3 home runs and posted a .380 batting average. |
 | Tuesday, May 8th, 2007: Villa Gets Shutout
It was not a good day at the plate for Volunteers hitters. Most of them came up empty against Manuel Villa of the Oelwein Monumentals. He held them to 3 hits and blanked Madison 9-0. Villa also chalked up 5 strikeouts and 3 walks in the game at Monumentals Ballpark.
So far this year Villa has a 6-0 record with a 2.70 ERA. |
| Monday, April 30th, 2007: Sub League 2 Hitter of the Week
Sixto Ramos went on a week-long batting spree against Sub League 2 pitchers and hauled in the Player of the Week trophy.
The Madison center fielder battered the opposition for 11 hits in 20 at-bats, no home runs, 4 RBIs and scored no runs. He hit .550 and posted a .591 on-base percentage.
In his season totals Ramos has 1 home run and a .309 batting average.
