Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory... your 5 minutes of fame... you get your name in the record book.
In the Kestrels 6-2 win over Norfolk, Chris Aguila was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Kestrels Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Aguila delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
C. Aguila singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 8th.
In his season totals Aguila has 3 home runs and a .297 batting average. | | Tuesday, June 6th, 2006: Razor-Sharp Reyes Blanks Norfolk Jersey City rode the magical arm of Anthony Reyes in a 8-0 shutout win over Norfolk. He shackled them on 3 hits and fanned 8. Almost to a man, the Norfolk Flying Tigers said he had them guessing wrong all game long.
