Breaking News | | Saturday, May 26th, 2007: Injury Ends Career of Joe Unknown The Kendall Advancers clubhouse was subdued this afternoon after Joe Unknown was seriously injured running the bases during the game against the Jersey City Power. Unknown was taken to a local hospital for examination. This morning, doctors confirmed the preliminary diagnosis of a torn back muscle. They said Unknown will undergo surgery in the near future. This type of injury, they said, will require extensive rehabilitation. For all intents and purposes, his career in baseball is over.
It remains to be seen how Unknown's loss will affect the rest of the team. The Advancers owner, when reached for comment, said he planned to visit Unknown later today. "It's a sad day for us," he said. "We've lost a class individual. I hope that we can keep him in our organization in some capacity. Joe still has a lot to contribute to our baseball team."
| | Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007: Rabe Keeps Hit Streak Alive Josh Rabe of the Birmingham Snipes just keeps going and going. The hot-hitting left fielder went 2-for-4 in his team's 2-1 victory over the Kendall Advancers at Snipes Ballpark and extended his hitting streak to 20 games.
"He is definitely on a roll right now" said a Advancers pitcher. "I thought I made some good pitches against him, but he's a good hitter and hit 'em anyway."
When asked about his performance, Rabe said, "I don't care if I go hitless as long as we get the win." J. Rabe flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
So far in 2007 Rabe is hitting .311 with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 57 hits and played in 47 games. | | Tuesday, September 5th, 2006: Round 3 to Advancers The 2006 ML Double A season came to a close today at Ballpark of Kendall, where the Kendall Advancers whipped the Scottsdale Sapphires 7-2 and won their 1st Round 3 in history.
