The league cited the Gnomes center fielder for "inappropriate and aggressive conduct," in the notification letter. Phillips strongly objected to a questionable call by the home plate umpire and was ejected.
"Ejection? Maybe. But not suspension. It's ludicrous is what it is. It's totally uncalled for. I have no idea why. You have to ask the people in the league office that wear the coats and ties and don't get on the field. I didn't cause the altercation, the umpire did. It was a lousy call."
This season Phillips is batting .200 with 1 RBIs, 1 runs scored and no home runs. | | | Team Information | Record overall | 24-33, .421 PCT | Position in Division | 4th, 15.0 GB | Record at home | 12-15, .444 PCT | Record on the road | 12-18, .400 PCT | Record in X-inning games | 5-2, .714 PCT | Record in one-run games | 8-11, .421 PCT | Record versus LHP | 9-8, .529 PCT | Record versus RHP | 15-25, .375 PCT | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | Record in April | 8-20, .286 PCT | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT |
