Sunday, June 1st, 2008: Milledge Nabs NL Monthly Rookie Award
Lastings Milledge was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 23-year-old right fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen May's National Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 27 games Milledge batted .282 for New York, slapping 22 hits in 78 at-bats with 6 home runs, drove in 18 runs and scored 13 times.

Thus far this year Milledge has hit .286 with 9 home runs and 32 RBIs.
Sunday, May 25th, 2008: Players Suspended in Red Sox-Mets Donnybrook
When fights happen, suspensions are not far behind. That axiom was held to be true today when Boston's Alex Cora and New York's Pedro Martinez were given a temporary vacation from the game, courtesy of the league commissioner's office.

They both were suspended for 4 games for their actions in a recent ruckus between the two teams. Both benches cleared when Cora charged Martinez.

Both players have accepted their fate and will begin serving their suspensions immediately. Neither would talk to reporters about the confrontation.

This year Cora has batted at a .217 pace with 13 hits, 1 home run, 4 RBIs and scored 8 times.

This year Martinez has compiled a 1-3 mark with a 5.10 ERA in 10 starts.
Thursday, May 15th, 2008: Big Day with Bat: Utley 5-5
Chase Utley of the Phillies was unstoppable in today's 11-1 victory over the New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.

"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Philadelphia second baseman after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-5 will."

C. Utley singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

In 2008 Utley is batting .342 with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs.
