| Breaking News | | Sunday, May 25th, 2008: Andruw Jones Sidelined for Season
The Atlanta Braves will have to make do without Andruw Jones for 7 months. He suffered a ruptured disc while making a defensive play in the game today against the Baltimore Orioles. His teammates, understandably, were upset about losing the center fielder. "That's a tough break for him," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We will just fill in until he gets back." Jones will miss 7 months.
So far this year Jones is hitting .262 with 12 home runs. |

Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves could be headed for the disabled list after suffering a inguinal hernia in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals. He is expected to miss at least 8 weeks. The Atlanta third baseman was injured running the bases.
This season Jones has banged out 43 hits in 118 at-bats for a .364 average with 7 home runs. He is getting on base at a .473 pace and his totals also include 31 RBIs and 21 runs scored. |
