Friday, May 30th, 2008: Injury Sidelines Matt Garza for Season
Matt Garza of the Twins just might have to call it quits for the season. The 24-year-old Minnesota starting pitcher received a possible season-ending injury against the New York Yankees recently at Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. Garza suffered back spasms while throwing a pitch. The Twins medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 7 months.

In 2008 Garza has compiled a 6-1 mark with a 3.19 ERA in 10 starts.
Wednesday, May 28th, 2008: Bartlett and Green Suspended, Out 10 Games
Baseball officials have notified the Twins and Mariners organizations that one of their players has been suspended for "inappropriate and aggressive behavior" in yesterday's Minnesota-Seattle contest at Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. Jason Bartlett of the Twins and Sean Green of the Mariners will have to sit out 10 games for their roles in the free-for-all brawl.

Bartlett is batting .249 this year with 1 home run, 10 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He has 48 hits in 193 at-bats.

So far this year Green has been credited with no saves, registered a 5.63 ERA and struck out 2 in 8 innings. He also has a 0-1 record.
Tuesday, May 20th, 2008: Homer #400 for Toronto's Giambi
"I wasn't trying to hit a homer. I just wanted to make contact."
That's what Jason Giambi told reporters after he made baseball history today at Rogers Centre. The prolific slugger belted home run #400 in the Toronto Blue Jays 8-7 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

The standout first baseman collected 1 hit in 4 at-bats with 3 runs batted in and 1 run scored.

"I guess this puts me in baseball's elite," said Giambi. "I don't feel any different. I probably should, but I don't. Still, it is a nice achievement. I did get a little excited, didn't I?"

In his career Giambi is batting .290 with 1797 hits, 400 home runs, 1125 runs scored and 1243 RBIs.
