Sunday, June 1st, 2008: Detroit Starter Named AL's Best Pitcher
Justin Verlander hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning American Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice.

In May the Detroit starter earned a 4-0 mark in 5 starts. He threw 35.1 innings, struck out 33 and compiled a solid 1.27 ERA.

In 2008 Verlander has compiled a 4-5 mark with a 4.28 ERA.
Sunday, May 25th, 2008: Tigers Second Baseman Hurt
Detroit second baseman Placido Polanco has a fractured nose, suffered while colliding with a player at a base. He's expected to be out for 3-4 weeks.

So far this season Polanco is hitting .296 with 2 home runs, 24 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has 45 hits in 152 at-bats and a .333 OBP.
