Breaking News | | Wednesday, May 28th, 2008: Arizona Star Webb Struggles with Injury Brandon Webb will be watching from the sidelines after suffering back spasms against the Philadelphia Phillies. Although team doctors are not overly concerned, they want to play it safe, listing the injury as day-to-day. The outstanding starting pitcher could miss about 1-2 weeks.
This year Webb has worked 61.1 innings with 54 strikeouts en route to a 5-2 record and 3.82 ERA. | | Thursday, May 15th, 2008: McLouth Clips Astros for Cycle "Ladies and gentlemen, Nate McLouth has just hit for the cycle!" That was the call from the PA announcer as McLouth collected the last hit he needed to complete the cycle today against the Astros. He collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored as Arizona stopped Houston 7-3 at Chase Field.
Hitting for the cycle is one of the most difficult feats in baseball at any level. The odds are really against a player hitting a single, double, triple and a home run in the same game.
"It's the last thing on my mind really. I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill," McLouth told reporters after the game.
He may be right, but it's not every day that someone hits for the cycle. That's why his name will be placed in the record book.
N. McLouth grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off P. Neshek in the 9th.
So far in 2008 McLouth has hit .261 with 6 home runs and 15 RBIs. He has played in 34 games and scored 20 times. | | Monday, April 28th, 2008: 2000th Hit for Green Shawn Green reached the 2000-hit mark today. Arizona's 35-year-old right fielder received a standing ovation from Arizona Diamondbacks and Cincinnati Reds fans alike. On the day, Green went 2-4 in the Diamondbacks 4-0 victory.
In his 1979-game career Green is batting .284 with 2000 hits, 324 home runs, 1135 runs scored and 1085 RBIs. | | Injuries | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | P Brandon Webb | back spasms | 6 days | Not on DL | P Brandon Medders | fractured elbow | 5-6 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | Team Information | Record overall | 30-19, .612 PCT | Position in Division | 2nd, 1.5 GB | Record at home | 19-7, .731 PCT | Record on the road | 11-12, .478 PCT | Record in X-inning games | 2-2, .500 PCT | Record in one-run games | 13-7, .650 PCT | Record versus LHP | 11-8, .579 PCT | Record versus RHP | 19-11, .633 PCT | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | Record in April | 13-9, .591 PCT | Record in May | 17-10, .630 PCT |
