Team officials were upbeat today as Ron Belliard signed an extension with the Astros. He'll be calling Houston home for the next 3 years and will earn $7,980,000 in salary by the end of the contract.

Veteran John Thomson put together quite a successful stretch in May for the Houston Astros, earning himself the National Pitcher of the Month award.
Thomson racked up a 5-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 2.34 ERA over 34.2 innings and striking out 25.
Thomson has made 8 starts this season, posting 7 wins and no losses. Opposing clubs are batting .288 against him and he has 33 strikeouts in 53.1 innings with a 3.54 ERA. |

Luke Scott went on a week-long batting spree against National pitchers and hauled in the Player of the Week trophy.
The Houston right fielder battered the opposition for 10 hits in 20 at-bats, 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 7 runs. He hit .500 and posted a .577 on-base percentage.
In 2008 Scott has put up a .384 batting average with 58 hits, 12 home runs and 33 RBIs. |
