Breaking News | | Monday, August 7th, 2006: SL2's #1 Player Named The hottest bat of the week belonged to Honolulu left fielder Chris Roberson.
He went on a rampage last week against SL2 hurlers and rapped out 9 hits in 29 at-bats for a .310 average while hitting 3 home runs, driving in 7 runs and scoring 6 runs -- numbers quite worthy of the Sub League 2 Player of the Week trophy.
Roberson was honored today at a press conference.
This year Roberson is hitting .269 with 8 home runs and 34 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .352 clip and scored 57 runs. | | Sunday, July 30th, 2006: Roberson Hits for Cycle Against Sept-Īles You might say Chris Roberson wore out his welcome with the Sept-Īles Onslaught. The left fielder gave them fits in today's 3-2 Honolulu victory by hitting for the cycle. "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple and homerun in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. Roberson ended the day with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 3 runs batted in and 1 run scored.
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, he said, "After the first three hits, I thought to myself, This could be the game I hit for the cycle. And I got lucky and did it."
C. Roberson hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 8th.
In 2006 Roberson has put up a .272 batting average with 101 hits, 6 home runs and 30 RBIs. | | Wednesday, May 17th, 2006: Thunderjets Unknown Gone for Year Joe Unknown of the Thunderjets just might have to call it quits for the season. The 26-year-old Honolulu starting pitcher received a possible season-ending injury against the Norfolk Flying Tigers recently at Thunderjets Stadium. Unknown suffered a torn tricep muscle while throwing a pitch. The Thunderjets medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 11 months.
