"Hitting is all about discipline," said Martínez. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too agressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes."
Concentrate he did. Martínez stroked 10 hits in 25 at-bats while cranking out 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Martínez is swinging at a .394 pace on the year with 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored. He has played in 8 games. | | Sunday, April 15th, 2007: Carlinville's Unknown Injured Joe Unknown had to leave the Heaters game against Lubbock after suffering a torn bicep muscle while throwing a pitch. He will be out of the lineup at least 7-8 months. He told reporters, "I just felt a sharp pain when it happened. I knew there was something wrong."
