| Breaking News | | Friday, June 1st, 2007: Pitcher of the Month Named in SL1
Ron Villone has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in May and stole away with the Sub League 1 Pitcher of the Month award.
The Nauticals bullpen ace collected no saves and 11 strikeouts in 9.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .182 average and posting a 0.00 ERA and a 5-0 record.
This season Villone has nailed down no saves with 22 strikeouts in 17.1 innings. He is credited with 5 wins and 1 loss and has a 1.04 earned run average. |
| Monday, May 21st, 2007: Pascagoula's Newhan Gets SL1 Player of the Week
It was announced today that Pascagoula left fielder David Newhan was selected the Sub League 1 Player of the Week Award for his superb play last week.
During the week he compiled a .379 batting average (11-29) with 2 home runs, 6 runs batted in and scored 6 runs.
Newhan's current batting average stands at .284 and he has chalked up 11 home runs and 27 RBIs. |
 | Monday, April 16th, 2007: SL1 Awards Player of the Week Trophy
It was announced today by the Sub League 1 that Pascagoula right fielder Jason Michaels had received the Player of the Week Trophy for his superlative play last week.
The Pascagoula right fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers, pounding them for a .571 average (8-14) with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
