| Breaking News |  | Monday, May 14th, 2007: SL1 Names Top Player of the Week
22-year-old Ryan Sweeney made a few New City headlines during this past week as the rookie left fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Sub League 1 officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 10 hits in 20 at-bats to put up a .500 average. Sweeney collected 1 home run, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
This season Sweeney has hit at a .380 clip and produced 9 RBIs, 1 home run and 14 runs scored. |
| Monday, April 16th, 2007: Jennings Sizzles, Louisville Fizzles
After his 6-0 shutout win against the Devil Dogs, Jason Jennings said, "I went out there to try and eat up innings and help out our bullpen. I felt I had my good stuff... and it turned out my command was solid and my breaking balls were good."
They were better than good as the Copper Kings pitcher put up 6 strikeouts, surrendered 1 walk, allowed 2 hits and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.

All year long Ryan Sweeney feasted on Sub League 1 pitching to the tune of a .297 batting average. For his outstanding efforts he collected the league's Outstanding Hitter Award for 2006.
The New City Copper Kings center fielder slammed opposing pitchers for 140 hits, 13 home runs and 75 RBIs, while scoring 58 times.
