The Regency Motors team has announced that Launch Bornado will be racing in the seat formerly occupied by Barb. The SBMRL will award Bornado the points previously earned in that seat so as to maintain continuity within the team.
Bornado has, to this point, been a complete unknown. In fact, he or she has yet to even appear in front of the press, leaving speculation rampant as to the identity of this new driver. Regency Motors has assured the SBMRL that Bornado is up to the task and is qualified to drive. Given that the SBMRL has confirmed Bornado’s participation in Singapore, they have apparently provided appropriate documentation as well.
Changing drivers after just one race does beg the question of what is really going on inside the Regency Motors team. Was there enough dissatisfaction with Barb’s performance to remove her from the team completely? She did end Captain Slow’s race with her aggressiveness in turn 1 on lap 2 of Austin, and she also found herself watching the others finish after being eliminated herself. One would expect she’d at least be given a chance to redeem herself before being given the boot, so there has to be something more going on here. All it does is make this weekend in Singapore that much more intriguing!
